VOLLEYBALL
Tyler Smith is a volleyball enthusiast with a lifelong commitment to the sport. His journey began as a standout junior player, and he seamlessly transitioned into a formidable force throughout his high school years. The pinnacle of his playing career unfolded at Elmira College, where Tyler not only showcased his skills but also assumed the role of captain in his senior year.
In the collegiate arena, Tyler's leadership prowess propelled his team to a remarkable top 10 national ranking during both his junior and senior years. His indelible mark was further underscored by four appearances in the prestigious United Volleyball Conference tournament.
In 2021, Tyler became the head coach for the Girls Varsity Volleyball team at the Berkshire School. In this coaching capacity, Tyler has instilled a passion for volleyball in his athletes, fostering both skill development and a winning mindset. Notably, under Tyler's guidance, Berkshire players received All-NEPSAC recognition for the first time in seven years.
Beyond the volleyball court, Tyler is a dedicated teacher and dorm parent at the Berkshire School while also coaching the JV Golf team during the spring season.
Tyler shares his life at Berkshire with his wife, Lisa Marshall, who heads the Girls Varsity Ice Hockey team. When not immersed in the realms of teaching and coaching, Tyler can be found passionately cheering for the Boston Bruins, demonstrating his unwavering support for his favorite team.
