BUSC’s Kicking Camp is a residential sports camp experience at the Berkshire School in Western Massachusetts offering an elite, small-group kicking, punting, and long snapping training program with development specialist Coach Brendan Cahill.

COACH BRENDAN CAHILL

With a decade-long legacy, Coach Cahill has played a pivotal role in shaping high school, college, and NFL specialists, both domestically and internationally. As the owner of Coach Cahill Kicking and Punting School and Special Teams Coordinator at Choate Rosemary Hall, he brings a wealth of expertise to player development. His impact is evident in the success stories of former campers and students, who have secured offers at renowned institutions like Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, and more.

Notably, Coach Cahill's influence extends to the NFL, having worked with and learned from players such as Younghoe Koo (Falcons), Zac Triner (Buccaneers), and Sam Ficken (Penn State; Jets). His pragmatic approach and commitment to skill enhancement mark Coach Cahill as a respected leader in football coaching, leaving an enduring legacy in player advancement at all levels.

WHAT YOU LEARN

Over the course of a 10-day session, campers will gain invaluable insights into mastering the techniques of precision kicking and punting, refining their skills for optimal performance on the field through personalized coaching and hands-on experience.

  • DAY 1: Field Goal Kicking Fundamentals 1.0

    We start by focusing on foundational field goal kicking skills including proper foot-to-ball contact, personalized swing techniques for optimal performance, and injury prevention strategies when kicking.

  • Day 2: Punting Fundementals 1.0

    Campers work on mastering hand-to-foot mechanics and refining steps, swing, and follow-through. The session also covers the distinction between directional punting and straight-away punting, emphasizing injury prevention for sustained long-term performance.

  • Day 3: Kick Off Fundamentals 1.0

    Campers will go through the three key distinctions between field goal kicking and kickoffs, focusing on the development of a potent hurdle kick. We will also emphasize the importance of finding an individualized kickoff run-up and approach for optimal performance.

  • Day 4: Weight Room and Film Break Down 1.0

    Discover the benefits of training akin to baseball players or golfers, focusing on building balance, core strength, and injury prevention techniques in the weight room, along with guidance on proper recovery practices.

  • Day 5: Day 5: Kicking Competition Day 1.0

    Campers will participate in a college recruiting camp-style competition, featuring field goal (FG), punting (P), and kickoff (KO) events evaluating distance, accuracy, and pressure kicks, with prizes awarded to the top performers.

  • Day 6: Speciality Kicks Day

    Campers focus on learning unique skills such as pooch punting for strategic field positioning, executing surprise onside kicks for regaining possession, and exploring the art of drop kicking alongside other innovative kicking and punting techniques.

  • Day 7: Recruiting & College Football Seminar

    Day 7 covers key metrics, timelines, and benchmarks for successful college recruitment,. Campers will gain practical guidance on effective communication with college coaches and networking strategies to enhance their recruitment prospects.

  • Day 8: Field Goal Kicking Fundamentals 2.0

    Athletes will delve into advanced techniques, including perfecting foot-to-ball contact, developing a personalized and effective kicking swing, and learning advanced injury prevention methods.

  • Day 9: Punting Fundamentals 2.0

    Campers go further into refining hand-to-foot mechanics, perfecting steps, swing, and follow-through, and exploring advanced directional punting strategies while emphasizing injury prevention and long-term punting proficiency.

  • Day 10: Kicking Showcase Day

    Campers have the opportunity to compete live for area scouts from prestigious prep schools, mimicking a real Ivy League level summer recruiting event. The format includes competitive showcases and coaching on effective networking with college coaches, contact exchange, and follow-up steps in the potential recruiting process.

Berkshire United SC is located on the campus of The Berkshire School in Western, MA. Our picturesque 400-acre campus nestled at the foot of Mt. Everett and features state-of-the-art athletic facilities. The Berkshire School provides an ideal setting to seamlessly blend the thrill of athletic programming with the cherished traditions of a summer camp experience.
